What it costs, and why we think it's worth it.
AI uses real resources. Every prompt consumes electricity, water, and produces carbon. We think you should know that.
Ask Jung is built to use the minimum possible AI and resources. We don't make unnecessary calls. We don't add features just to keep you scrolling. Every prompt that reaches the model is one we believe genuinely serves you.
~0.26 ml
water per prompt
~0.03 g
CO₂ per prompt
These are small numbers. A typical session here costs about one milliliter of water — less than a single drop from your tap. We show them because honesty matters, not because we want you to feel guilty.

But here's the thing we keep thinking about.
The same servers, the same water, the same electricity — they power everything online. Every app on your phone. Every infinite scroll. Every autoplay video you didn't ask for.
The resource cost of thirty minutes on a social media feed and thirty minutes understanding your own mind are roughly the same. The difference is what you walk away with.
Understanding yourself
An insight that changes how you show up tomorrow
vs.
Doom scrolling
Thirty minutes you won't remember by tonight
Both cost something. Only one gives something back.

A therapy session uses electricity. A library uses water. A school has a carbon footprint. We don't ask whether these things should exist because they consume resources — we ask whether they do their job well.
The question is never "does this cost something." Everything does. The question is whether what comes out is worth what went in.
If you leave here understanding something about yourself that you didn't before — something that changes how you parent, how you forgive, how you listen — that is not a small thing. That is the kind of outcome that ripples.
We believe the world needs fewer products designed to waste your time, and more tools designed to help you grow. That's what we're trying to build. And we'd rather show you exactly what it costs than pretend it's free.
Your dreams are already arriving. We just think the world is a little better when you listen to them.

Per-prompt figures based on Google's published AI inference measurements. Water refers to direct data center cooling only. We update these numbers as better data becomes available.
"Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate."
